A brief synopsis... after all what happens in the Scillies stays in the Scillies....

Some of us arrived Friday 8th September after lunch and spent a quiet afternoon visiting as many pubs as possible to check them out! No really it was a very quiet evening (honest!)

Early Saturday 9th September the rest arrived and we got straight on the boats to visit Tresco. Sarah, Caireen and I hadn't been to Tresco before so we had to do the gardens, Abbey etc (bit of culture) while the others headed straight to the New Inn. No actually I think they climbed up to a castle first or so they said!

Anyway, we couldn't quite catch them up, despite climbing to the highest point to see where they were, so we all went back to the pub - seemed like a good meeting point!

We then walked across to Bryer and back as it was the lowest tide for 25 years. Slightly miss-timed how long it would take to get back to the ferry and ended up legging it!

Obviously by now we started preparing in earnest for the Nut Rock Race. Helen and Emma decided Petroc may go faster with a bit of  TLC!!!

Rowing out to the start with our Scilly-cox-on-loan "The Infamous NickyGeorge"!

Hard race and finished a very close 2nd to Newquay. Tregarthens Scilly Crew were 3rd.

Quick change and back to the Scillonian for some food! Obviously none of these glasses are anything to do with us as we were under strict instructions not to get drunk (big race in the morning St Mary's to St. Agnes) - no we were just in high spirits...

Unbelievably we went out for a training session at 10am before the race! Talk about the morning after the night before! Eughhhhh!!

Hung around for ages waiting for all the other crews. Lined up in a slightly not alphabetical order - Nick is not very good at ABC!! Then had a great start and kept the lead the whole 20+ long minutes to St Agnes and came in FIRST with Newquay a close 2nd! Whoopee!

 Celebrating on St Agnes!

Comparing blisters!

"Do I really have to row back?!"

It all went downhill from here!

As Caireen wasn't rowing back she didn't need her vest, so we thought we'd see how the Cox looked in it - seemed like a good idea at the time....!! Comments on a postcard......

What was going on there?!!

Sarah is in the back there really, though I think I sat on her!

Is this the last shot of Helen's left knee as it was?!

Julia's fabulous co-ordination! A miracle after 6 pints!
